South + English loves to create. We’re not alone. S+E knows you do too. That’s why we’ve gone back to the drawing board to create a new category of furniture called MADE TO ORDER, or MTO among friends.

To begin, a South + English design is always the starting point. With over 70 beautiful silhouettes in the MTO collection, you’ll likely find the cabinet, bed, desk, dining table or chair perfect for your project. MTO is a complete collection with designs for every room in the house.

Next, make the design your own. Add your marker’s mark with a choice of wood and metal finishes, plus fabrics (including your own COM), as appropriate. Bespoke customization – design makeovers, dimension changes and even new finishes – is also available.

Then, say GO. Finalize your design. South + English will make it to order. Every piece is bench made by hand in America, not far from our High Point homebase, where furniture craftsmanship is a generational skill, empowered by state-of-the-art technology.

South + English BFFs may recognize some familiar faces in the MTO collection. The former Clean Slate and New South collections and their glorious offspring like Jasper, Callas and Oslo, have come together in this new collection. This new structure more clarity to the common and collaborative design and manufacturing process.

Many designers fall head over heels with a S+E design as originally conceived.. Others, selecting from a raft of wood and metal finishes, handily personalize to their heart’s content. Sometimes more is needed – to suit the space, the need, the palette, the desire. No worries. As the name promises, the Made to Order collection is infinitely customizable.

By definition, custom is unique. As such, S+E will collaborate with you every step of the way. Here’s a quick review of the process to guide the way:

Where to begin? Easy: An existing MTO design is your inspiration launch pad.
Next, show us your specs. Roughly sketch your desired customization with as much informative detail as you can offer.
We will then connect with you one-on-one and flesh out more detail.
Incoming! You’ll next see shop drawings and a full quotation, both for your final approval.
Of note, custom orders must be paid in full before production begins. No returns are allowed. We really are making the piece just for you!
S+E will keep you apprised of lead time, but overall you may expect delivery 8-15 weeks after sign off.
