Water Into Waves — Linwood Original
Mixed Media Original Art

Fluid, layered, and filled with movement, Water Into Waves explores transformation—the subtle shift from stillness into motion, from one state of being into another. The composition is divided into two distinct visual languages, creating a compelling dialogue between quiet atmosphere and expressive energy.

On the left, washes of misty blue, slate, charcoal, and weathered grey build a deeply textured field. Fine drips, scratched marks, translucent layers, and fragments of handwritten text give the surface a sense of history, while touches of blush, ochre, and black emerge like memories beneath the water.

The right side releases that restraint into movement. Sweeping ribbons of ivory, charcoal, and golden yellow curve and overlap across a softer ground, their continuous paths recalling currents, ripples, and waves. The contrast feels intentional: structure gives way to fluidity, and stillness becomes motion.

Overall Size:  98.5 x 50.75

    The Backstory

DJE original art is an expression of life’s journeys and relationships, using shapes, patterns, color and texture as a symbolic interpretation of how things felt at the time. Wood, fabric, paint and plaster on canvas are all in play. For DJE, making art is a path for personal understanding and clarity. If the art speaks to you the viewer, if it captures your imagination, raises questions, evokes emotion, one man’s process may enlighten another’s. In this way, art is personal and transcendent.

CUSTOM COMMISSIONS: Art originals are indeed just that: one-of-a-kind creations. Please know, however, that DJE loves personal commissions. Perhaps an already-sold work of art speaks to you. Maybe you’re intrigued by piece,  but desire a change in size, palette, material or content. The creative process can even be collaborative with regard to dimensions and color preferences. Where to begin? The custom process starts with an email.
