Moon Over the Water captures the quiet strength and contemplative spirit of the horse through Linwood’s distinctive mixed-media language. Inspired by sketches made while observing horses in the English countryside, the work blends expressive charcoal drawing with layered collage, handwritten notes, and weathered surfaces to create a composition that feels both timeless and deeply personal.

The horse emerges from a richly textured background of paint, graphite, and found materials, appearing almost as if it has surfaced from memory.  As with many of Linwood’s originals, the longer you look, the more you discover. Layers of handwritten marks, symbolic forms, and subtle textures reveal themselves over time, creating an ever-changing visual experience. The horse—one of Linwood’s recurring subjects—embodies grace, resilience, and freedom, while the artist’s signature calligraphic marks and mixed-media techniques breathe life into every surface.
